Lecture: Invasive species in river-floodplains: the importance of the flood pulse, connectivity and local processes mediated by hydrodynamics
Dr. Sidinei Magela Thomaz is an associate professor of Ecology at the Center for Research in Limnology, Ichthyology and Aquaculture, Maringá State University (Brazil). He obtained a PhD degree in Ecology and Natural Resources (1995) at Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil). He is an aquatic ecologist working on the ecology and management of aquatic macrophytes in large reservoirs and wetlands of Paraná River. His interests focus on the use of aquatic macrophytes and related organisms to test ecological concepts about biological invasions and biodiversity. He currently serves as an associate editor-in-chief of Hydrobiologia and associate editor of Biological Invasions, NeoBiota, Perspectives in Ecology and Conservation and Acta Limnologica Brasiliensia.
